Seeing the Sights in Granada

Our first day in Granada we wandered aimlessly around the Central Park.  We paid to walk up to the bell tower in the Cathedral.  We ended up repeating this activity after we walked up to La Merced and were told the girls were too young to go up into the bell tower.  Upon leaving Lottie saw a little girl standing in the back of a moving pick up truck and had some questions about the consistency of safety restrictions.  I had no answers.  We also strolled around the Museo de San Francisco because we were getting stir crazy and it was close.  We really just spent a lot of time walking.  I do not have pictures of the famous cemetary we walked to because more than one person made me a tad paranoid we were going to get robbed if we took out cameras or phones.  I believe a stop for a $.50 ice cream cone may have been the only thing that made that trip happen without lots of whining.
We really enjoyed checking out Cafe de las Sonrisas (twice actually).  On our first visit we randomly happened upon a group from SUA.  I picked out the one teacher because he had on a flying pig t-shirt.  The world is just so very small when you are from the 'nati.  The crepes here were tasty and chocolate covered.  The organization is awesome and the girls got to try out weaving, hang out in the hammock and chase the bunnies.  All in all a very relaxing afternoon (or two).
Practicing out tourist skills

$.50 ice cream!!!!!!!!!!

First trip to the top of the Cathedral

Love that portrait mode.

This was fun until we were completely covered in bug bites :(

As we were exiting the Malecon I was told by the girl working to take the cameras from the girls and walk a different way home because of some shady men on the corner.  Gotta love warnings like that :(

Brief attempt to walk through the market.  It was a little overwhelming.

More of the walk to school.

GIANT HAMMOCK!!!!

At Cafe de las Sonrisas the staff are all hearing impaired.  You order by pointing and they have useful signs listed on the walls.  Loved this place!!!!!

Hammock weaving.

This is how they do funerals in Granada.  We should've followed the procession to the cemetery but we were too consumed by disappointment over not getting to climb up the tower.

At the top of the Cathedral on a clear day you can see Mombacho.

So people here seem to think Lottie looks like a doll.  People are constantly stroking her cheek or touching her hair and saying "muneca."  On this day a person handed her their baby and took her picture.  I was so confused by what was going on I didn't think to be a good parent and say maybe this is crossing a bizarre line.  I did however snap a picture so we could remember this weirdness.

Trying out Vigoron at El Gordito kiosk in the central park.
